KH5 - Steam Injection
The 501-KH5 is unique in its class in the proportion of steam injection it is able to accept 0 – 100% steam injection. Power is thus increased by 60%, and efficiency increased up to 40%.
Casing steam injection is available for the KH5 sets using the Rolls-Royce 501KH engine. Centrax generator sets can be configured to follow electrical or steam demand. Steam produced by the exhaust gasses is re-injected into the engine combustion casing to raise power output by as much as 60%. Varying the amount of steam injection between zero and maximum provides unrivalled flexibility of operation.
Steam injection results in significant reductions in NOx emissions as well as substantial gains in efficiency.
